The staff of the Institute studied the monuments of the ancient Turks in Ulytau

Under the leadership of the Deputy Director for Science of the A. H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, leading researcher of the Early Iron Age Archaeology Department, Ph.D. A. Kasenova, excavations were carried out this field season at the Nogerbek complex in the Ulytau district of Ulytau region near Lake Segyzbaykol.
The work was conducted within the framework of a grant project by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan: "The Tradition of Erecting Structures with Statues in Antiquity and the Middle Ages in the Territory of Ulytau" (Project Leader: A. Kasenova).
As a result of the research, excavations were organized in four enclosures with stone statues from the ancient Turkic period and two burials. Additionally, during the survey work at the Nogerbek complex, previously unexplored burials and enclosures from the ancient Turkic period and Kazakh winterings were discovered.
